Student Volunteerism
Throughout my professional and academic career, I accumulated 100+ volunteer hours by volunteering for many different causes and organizations. Many of these efforts were facilitated through my university's Office of Student Volunteerism.
I especially enjoyed serving as a volunteer during Startup Weekend Access, a 54-hour event in which entrepreneurs, developers, designers, marketers, and product managers met to share ideas, build products, and launch startups. This program was sponsored by Google for Entrepreneurs and especially focused on building a collaborative and accessible environment for people with disabilities. During the event, I helped manage the registration process and served food and drink. It was very exciting to watch the different teams present their final products and it inspired me to learn more about entrepreneurship and efficient product design. Other events I have volunteered for include INROADS Day of Service, Alternative Spring Break 2014, Alternative Spring Break 2015, the Career Expo, Viva Volunteer, Voter Registration at UTDallas, the Plano Balloon Fest, the Crowe Collection of Asian Art, the Student Organization Fair, and the UTDallas Texas Party. |
